The box price alone can mislead, because the packs differ in size. Simvor 10mg and 20mg come as 100 tablets, while 40mg comes as 30. At one tablet a night, that works out to about RM11 a month for 10mg, RM12 for 20mg and RM28 for 40mg.

Simvor is made locally by Ranbaxy (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. at its plant in Sungai Petani, Kedah. The same company holds its registration with the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA), and each strength carries its own MAL number.
As a generic, Simvor contains the same active ingredient at the same strengths as the original brand. To read how simvastatin works, see our simvastatin guide.
Each strength is one tablet a day. Your doctor decides which one from your blood test, your heart risk and the other medicines you take.

Keep the tablets in their blister strip until you take them. Simvor should be stored below 25°C, so avoid leaving it in a hot car.

HOW IT WORKS
Pick the option that matches you.
Simvor is usually taken for the long term. These checkpoints help you take it every day and keep your doctor up to date.
Mark the day you open a new box and pick a fixed evening time, such as after brushing your teeth.
Your doctor will usually repeat your lipid test after you start, to see how your LDL has responded and whether the strength is right.
Reorder when you open the last strip, so you never miss a night.
Once your levels are stable, a yearly check of cholesterol and your medicine list is common.
Both tablets contain simvastatin at the same strengths. They differ in who makes them, how many tablets come in a box and what a box costs.

About Simvor
Simvor is a prescription simvastatin tablet from Ranbaxy (Malaysia). Doctors prescribe it alongside diet and exercise to lower LDL cholesterol in people with high cholesterol or a raised risk of heart disease.
Yes. Simvor is a generic version of simvastatin, registered with NPRA. Before a generic is registered, NPRA checks that it contains the same active ingredient at the same strength as the original brand and behaves the same way in the body.
Price and ordering
At Hello Doktor, Simvor 10mg is RM36 and Simvor 20mg is RM39 for 100 tablets. Simvor 40mg is RM28 for 30 tablets. Delivery is RM10, or free if you self-collect.
Simvor 40mg is packed as 30 tablets, about one month at one tablet a day. The 10mg and 20mg boxes hold 100 tablets. Check the tablet count when you compare prices.
No. Simvor is a Group B prescription medicine, so our pharmacist needs a valid prescription before sending it. If you don't have one, you can see a licensed doctor by video for RM1.
Taking Simvor
Take it once a day in the evening, with or without food. Keeping to the same time each night makes it easier to remember.
The tablet looks different and the box holds 100 tablets (10mg, 20mg) or 30 (40mg), so you will reorder on a different schedule and pay less per month. Agree the change with your doctor or pharmacist first, and never take both brands together.
Your doctor looks at your LDL result, heart risk and other medicines. Order the strength written on your prescription and keep to it until your doctor changes it.
Safety
Many people have none. The more common ones are mild: stomach upset, constipation, headache and muscle aches. See a doctor the same day for unexplained muscle pain or weakness, especially with fever or dark urine.
Simvor is not for people with active liver disease, or during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Some antibiotics, antifungals and HIV medicines cannot be taken with it, so share your full medicine list with your doctor.
Checked against the Simvor package insert registered with NPRA and Malaysian dyslipidaemia guidelines. Reviewed at least every six months.
For general information. Simvor is a prescription medicine; follow the advice of your own doctor or pharmacist.
