Running is considered one of the most effective types of cardio workout. Many people choose running because of its ability to strengthen the heart and arteries, thus preventing illnesses in the circulatory system. For others, running is a way of burning fat and keeping them in shape. If you are not convinced yet, take a look at this. Here is how running can firm your body shape.

Your body consists of many elements, including muscle mass, bones, water, organs, fat, etc. The point of exercising is to increase the proportion of muscle mass and melt away fat. Running is excellent at this.

Running and ATP

When you first start to run, your body uses the ATP, a kind of unit for counting energy, stored in your muscles and blood’s glycogen as a source of energy. The longer you keep running, the more ATP is consumed. Your muscles need oxygen to endure this type of high-impact activity. So, it releases lactic acid to let your brain know to send more oxygen. Because running is probably more important than digestion and other functions, your body decides to take most of the blood and flush it into the muscles in need. You will notice how hard you breathe when the oxygen demand gets high. Your body begins to use up calories fast. As your temperature rises, your sweat ducts come in play to cool you down and keep you from getting a heat stroke.

Running burn calories fast

Your weight depends on how much calories you spend and how much calories you eat. Running helps you lose weight by burning calories faster than any other physical activities can. As long as you have a low-fat diet, running will create a calorie deficit, which stimulates your body to use fat. However, you need to keep in mind that the golden formula for a great body shape is decreased fat and increased muscles. Running can only do the former part. For the latter part of the formula, you need weight training.

Running is also believed to boost your metabolism. Your body is stimulated and continues to burn more and more calories even after you finish your running session. It is just as wonderful as being retired already but still be able to get paid checks.

Running comes with many health benefits. It keeps your body fat composition at an optimal level while working your muscles and keeping them strong. For those who cannot afford expensive gyms but still want to stay in shape, running would the best solution.
