Sugar is a spice brings sweetness to the dish. Undeniably the use of spices makes the dish is delicious, attractive and stimulating taste. However the use of large amounts of sugar leads to the health hazard by the risk of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, … In the other words, sugar can increase the risk of heart disease

Irresistible ingredient

Sugar-sweetened beverages such as sodas, energy drinks, and sports drinks are the biggest sources of sugar in our diet. They account for more than one-third of the added sugar we consume as a nation. Other important sources include cookies, cakes, pastries, and similar treats; fruit drinks; ice cream, frozen yogurt and the like; candy; and ready-to-eat cereals.

Sugar and heart disease

A new study shows that the use of sugar-related heart disease because it will lead to high blood pressure and cause to the heart, heart failure, myocardial infarction, atherosclerosis and vulnerable body leading to sudden death.

The heart attack occurs when a coronary artery (blood supply with nutrients and oxygen to the heart muscle) is blocked. High glucose levels increase at a time when heart attacks occur causing heavy congestion because vasoconstriction of blood, leading to the risk of complications is higher. The amount of glucose in the blood causes kidney reuptake sodium and water, resulting in stagnation of water and sodium in the body. Increase blood volume will change the status of the blood vessels, causing them to shrink more than normal. This leads to increased blood pressure, reduced blood flow to the vital organs in the body.

What the research shows

The research in 2010 showed that higher blood glucose levels as “poor prognosis” for a heart attack appears later. They believe their findings provide a plausible mechanistic link to the increased risk of death from cardiovascular disease associated with increased intake of added sugar. Glucose seriously damages heart function, such as arrhythmias and eliminate organ protection mechanisms of the heart during stress. Sugar also causes oral bacteria reproduces, tooth decay and gum disease, which can lead to heart disease. If it is not treated carefully, the repeated infections such as infection of the gums are one of the factors promoting the development of diseases associated with the coronary artery.
