Throughout human history, joint pain, by all accounts, has appeared in the early days and long been recorded as one of the conditions most disliked owing to its unbearable pain and its difficulty of treatment. Fortunately, thanks to medical achievements in recent years, doctors have ascertained practical treatments for joint pain. In particular, you can, almost by yourself, relieve the pain at your own house by using these home remedies.

Massage therapy

Just around 5000 years ago, massage, at the time simply known as pure touching, was viewed as a miraculous cure for joint pain, and as a natural phenomenal method of soothing inflammation and promoting relaxation. Its reputation and popularity, by reason of today medical development, has been elucidated. Researchers show that massage’s ability to relieve joint pain is due in large measure to its effective mechanism of limiting neurotransmitter substance P, the messenger of pain to the brain. Without it, no longer can pain be felt. We should also take into account the positive impact of massage on yielding serotonin, a mood-boosting hormone. Of course, you need not go out for massage; there is one type of massage called self-massage using your own hands or some massage tools providing heat or vibration to knead your sore joints.

Heat and cold therapy

Benefits of hot and cold compresses to joint pain reduction have long dawned on quite a few scientists. Simple as they may sound, heat and cold combination is extraordinarily effective in treating joint pain. Heat dilates things that are exposed to it, thus, when you apply hot compresses to your aching joints, blood vessels nearby enlarge. Blood circulation, as a result, rises, boosting the delivery of nutrients to joints and muscles. This will help ease joint stiffness and relieve pain. Cold, entirely contrary to heat, constricts blood vessels, thus slowing down the circulation of blood, leading to the reduction of swelling joints. The numbness that follows cold compresses can dull pain efficaciously. It is a wide belief that treatment shall be accelerated if patients combine the two methods. For instance, you can let your joints be warmed up before and apply cold compress after exercise.

Diet

In order to ease joint pain, diet modification is an indispensable method of treatment. People with joint pain should add these foods to their diets:

Fish (salmon, tuna, halibut.): because of their abundant omega 3-fatty

Red and purple fruits (cherries, blueberries, blackberries.): because of their richness in anthocyanins

Turmeric or ginger: their plentiful curcumins functions as an anti-inflammation effect.

Nuts: So wondrous are some certain nuts, like walnuts and peanuts, that they are, not only easy to find, but can amazingly soothe joint pain.

Anodynes

In case the pain intensifies and shows no signs of alleviation, taking anodynes is a must. Here are some popular anodynes:

Fish oil lubricant

Fish oil lubricant functions as an effective pain-killer. Ample evidence confirms that fish oil’s abundant fatty acid has great power in blocking leukotriene B4, a substance commonly causing inflammation. Fish oil lubricant, hence, is recommended by most doctors.

Medications

Besides ibuprofen, naproxen and other anodynes, aspirin, unquestionably, appears to be the commonest in view of its favorable price and easy use. Aspirin’s effect, time after time, lasts for around 4 hours.
