What is AZO Urinary Pain Relief® (phenazopyridine) used for?
AZO Urinary Pain Relief® is commonly used for treating urinary symptoms such as pain or burning, increased urination, and increased urge to urinate. These symptoms can be caused by infection, injury, surgery, catheter, or other conditions that irritate the bladder.
It will treat urinary symptoms, but this medication will not treat a urinary tract infection. Take any antibiotic that your doctor prescribes to treat an infection.
It may be prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.
How should I take AZO Urinary Pain Relief® (phenazopyridine)?
Take it by mouth with a full glass of water, do not chew or break it, swallow the whole tablet.
Follow all directions on your prescription label.
Do not take this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.

How do I store AZO Urinary Pain Relief® (phenazopyridine)?
AZO Urinary Pain Relief® is best stored at room temperature away from direct light and moisture. To prevent drug damage, you should not store AZO Urinary Pain Relief® in the bathroom or the freezer. There may be different brands of AZO Urinary Pain Relief® that may have different storage needs. It is important to always check the product package for instructions on storage, or ask your pharmacist. For safety, you should keep all medicines away from children and pets.

Before using this drug, tell your doctor if:

There are no adequate studies in women for determining risk when using AZO Urinary Pain Relief® during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Stop using phenazopyridine and call your doctor at once if you have:
- Little or no urinating
- Swelling, rapid weight gain
- Confusion, loss of appetite, pain in your side or lower back
- Fever, pale or yellowed skin, stomach pain, nausea and vomiting
- Blue or purple appearance of your skin
Common side effects may include:
- Upset stomach

What is the dose of AZO Urinary Pain Relief® (phenazopyridine) for an adult?
Usual Adult Dose for Dysuria
190 to 200 mg orally 3 times a day after meals. Do not administer for more than 2 days when used with a urinary antibacterial.
What is the dose of AZO Urinary Pain Relief® (phenazopyridine) for a child?
Usual Pediatric Dose for Dysuria
>= 6 years to 18 years: 12 mg/kg/day orally divided into 3 doses for two days. Maximum dose: 600 mg/day.

What should I do in case of an emergency or overdose?
In case of an emergency or an overdose, call your local emergency services or go to your nearest emergency room.
What should I do if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose of AZO Urinary Pain Relief®, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your regular dose as scheduled. Do not take a double dose.
