What is Fugerel® (flutamide) used for?
Fugerel® is a nonsteroidal antiandrogen, which is commonly used for prevent the actions of androgens (male hormones). It is used together with other hormones to treat prostate cancer.

How should I take Fugerel® (flutamide)?
Flutamide is usually taken every 8 hours. Drink plenty of liquids while you are taking flutamide. Your doctor may recommend a special diet to help prevent diarrhea.
You should not stop using flutamide suddenly. Stopping suddenly may make your condition worse.

How do I store Fugerel® (flutamide)?
Fugerel® is best stored at room temperature away from direct light and moisture. To prevent drug damage, you should not store Fugerel® in the bathroom or the freezer. What should I know before using Fugerel® (flutamide)?
You should not use this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredients of Fugerel®.
Flutamide is given as part of a combination prostate cancer treatment with another medicine called a luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone, or LHRH. These medicines prevent the testicles from producing testosterone.
Flutamide can cause serious liver problems. Call your doctor at once if you have upper stomach pain, itching, tired feeling, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, or jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).
You will need frequent blood tests to check your liver function while you are taking flutamide.
Flutamide should never be taken by a woman or a child.
Although flutamide is not for use by women, this medicine can cause birth defects if a woman is exposed to it during pregnancy.
Is it safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
There are no adequate studies in women for determining risk when using Fugerel® during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Please always consult with your doctor to weigh the potential benefits and risks before taking Fugerel®. Fugerel® is pregnancy risk category D, according to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Common side effects may include:

Fugerel® can cause serious liver problems. Call your doctor at once if you have:
- Upper stomach pain
- Loss of appetite
- Tired feeling
- Flu-like symptoms
- Dark urine
- Clay-colored stools
- Jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes)
