    Most people know about the importance of staying physically active. However, in order to get the most out of exercising, you need a healthy diet. Here are 10 healthy diet tips for you to maintain an active lifestyle.

    1. Vary your choice of food.

    Supply your body with the nutrients it needs by eating a variety of foods, including whole grains, lean protein, fruits and vegetables, and low-fat or fat-free dairy. Remember to avoid fats and sugary foods, though.

    2. Get your energy from grains.

    Grains are great sources of energy. However, you should go for whole-grain foods such as whole-wheat bread or brown rice since they contain a much higher number of nutrients with less calorie.

    3. Build your muscles with protein.

    Your body needs protein to maintain is muscle mass as well as building more. Make sure you eat lean meats only. If you want a change, go for fish or other kinds of seafood once in a while.

    4. Add plant protein foods.

    Beans, peas, and nuts can be wonderful alternatives to meats. You may want to try them, especially if you are a vegan.

    5. Do not forget vegetables and fruits.

    Include more veggies to your diet, but do not be picky. Eat all the colors to get all the nutrients. Fruits and vegetables are best served fresh.

    6. Go fat-free/low-fat.
