12 Ways to Improve Concentration (Part 2)

Good concentration plays a vital role in your success. If you have ADHD, which is short for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or you simply have a wandering mind, it might be difficult for you to complete your assignments. But worry no more. Even though you cannot modify your brain for the perfect concentration, there are certain ways to improve what you have.

    Set your priorities straight

One of the best ways to stay focus is putting the big goals first on your to-do-list. Use your best concentration for important tasks. Then, when your concentration starts to wear off, you will still do fine because what is left is only minor stuff.

Set a time to read your emails

Instead of reading each email when it arrives, you can turn off your email notification and set a fixed time to read all of them later. Having a particular time for checking correspondence will save you a lot of trouble since incoming emails can be very distracting.

Do the same for your computer

If the task you are working on does not require the use of a computer, you better turn it off so that the online social networks do not derail you from your work.

    Set realistic goals

If a task seems too big that it freaks you out, you can try breaking it into smaller parts can set your goal to complete one by one. Now the task will definitely feel more manageable.

    Choose a place to work

Different working places will make you more prone to distraction. Try to find a comfortable place and stick with it so that your mind gets used to the external environment.

    Find a quiet place

One more important thing you must keep in mind when choosing your workplace is that it should be quiet and private. If you have to share your workplace with someone, try your best to do it with someone who works quietly.

    Time yourself

Having a timer will help you stick to your task. If your mind has already been wandering, a timer will grab it back for you and force you to continue doing what you are supposed to.

    Stay organized

A neat and clean workspace helps you focus better. However, do not try to clean your desk while you are in the middle of important work.

    Use a planner

Think ahead what you will need to do during the day. A digital planner will be more helpful since it can send reminders of what you should be during at that moment.

    Try to relax

Your attention span gets shorter and shorter when you are stressed. It is important that you know some relaxation techniques to calm yourself down when necessary.

    Write things down

Taking notes during a meeting will keep your mind focus on what is going on. If you forget something, you still have your notes to go over.

    Keep a routine

Having a stable routine will provide a good start for your day. Keep your planners, notes, and briefcase at the same place so that you can always reach them when you want.

There is no hack when it comes to concentration. You just have to try your best and be patient with yourself. Hopefully, the tips above can help you develop your attention span gradually.
