As hard as you scrub your body during showers, there are still disgusting things which are beyond your imagination stay on your body. Follow us to unveil those 5 grossest things.

Eyelash mites

Little did you know, on your beautiful eyelashes reside a big family of Demodex mites. Those little cuties have 8 legs and a slug-like body. They feed on the oily secretion from your eyelashes. Everyone has them, but not many are aware of the fact. Fortunately, eyelash mites are not trouble-makers. So, don’t try to mess with your eyelashes in the hope of removing mites because you will probably do more harm than good.

Poop residues

Of course, you did a good job at wiping yourself. But, to your disappointment, there will always something left behind. Scientists reveal that approximately 0,1g fecal matter stays in your anal crack. And, this residue will eventually land on your underwear, which, if not washed with hot water, will spread fecal traces to all of your clothing. Is this concerning? Probably. Plenty of viruses live in poop (Hepatitis A, for example). So, it’s best to wash your underwear with hot water.

Dead skin cells

When you look at yourself in the mirror, bear it mind that most of what you see are already dead. The top layer of your skin is all dead cells which are shredded off every minute of your life. Dead skin cells are not a cause for concern. But the idea of it is still quite terrifying.

Belly buttons stuff

Most people don’t wash their belly buttons as frequently as they should, making the place an ideal environment for bacteria – up to 2000 different species, and not just any regular germs. The species of bacteria found in one’s belly button are so exotic that scientists can’t identify all of them. 1,500 species out of the 2000 discovered ones still remain unidentified. What’s even more fascinating? One person in the study had the strain of bacteria that only exists in the Japanese soil when he never stepped foot on Japan.

Ear wax

People hate ear wax with a passion. They try their best to remove as much of their ear wax as possible without knowing the consequences of their action. The human evolution has its reason for keeping the oil glands inside your ears. This waxy substance is the ear’s first line of defense. Ear wax stops dust and bugs from getting in your ears (We all know how much bugs love to intrude our ears). Ear wax also acts as a lubricant, protecting your ear canal from irritation and bacterial inflammation.
