    What you eat decides how you feel and look. Therefore, in order to feel and look your best, you need to pay more attention to your diet. Here are ten nutrition tips to help you make better food choices.

    Figure out your nutrition needs

    Depend on your age, height, weight, and level of physical activity, you will need different foods. Use an online nutrient tracker or find a dietitian to have a customized diet plan.

    Control your proportion

    Switch to a smaller plate to help control your food and calories intake. Take your time to enjoy smaller amounts of food.

    Give your bones some love

    Buy foods that are high in calcium like fat-free or low-fat milk, cheese, yogurt, and fortified soymilk to strengthen bones. Make sure your morning coffee uses fat-free or low-fat milk.

    Include veggies and fruits

    Veggies and fruits are important. Do not be picky. Eat all kinds and colors to give your body a variety of vitamins and minerals. Fruits can be either a snack or a part of your main dish.

    Drink plenty of water

    Your body needs water to survive. Always have a bottle of plain water handy so that you can stay hydrated throughout the day. Steer clear of alcoholic or sugary drinks.

    Add more whole grains

    Half your grains should be whole grains. Whole grains not only make you feel full and but also provide your body with key nutrients. Instead of white bread, rice, or other refined-grain products, buy whole-wheat bread, pasta, and crackers; brown rice; and oatmeal.

    Try to read the labels

    When you go shopping, reading the labels will give you some ideas about what you need and what you should avoid having a healthy body. In general, avoid foods that have added sugar or saturated fat as the first ingredient.

    Limit your fat and sugar intake

    Cut back on fatty meats such as ribs, bacon, and hot dogs. Cakes, cookies, candies, and ice cream should only be occasional treats.

    Learn to cook

    Eating at home as often as you possibly can allows you to control what you are eating. If you cannot avoid eating out, remember to check and compare nutrition information.

    Get active

    Physical activities are essential to a healthy lifestyle. Try to move your body as much as possible. Invite your friends and family to work out with you will keep you motivated.
