What is Aerius® (desloratadine) used for?
Aerius® is used to relieve the symptoms of allergic rhinitis (inflammation of the nasal passages caused by an allergy, for example, hay fever or allergy to dust mites) or urticaria (a skin condition caused by an allergy, with symptoms including itching and hives).
How should I take Aerius® (desloratadine)?
Take Aerius® by mouth and exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take it in larger amounts or for longer than recommended. Follow the directions on your prescription label.
How do I store Aerius® (desloratadine)?
Aerius® is best stored at room temperature away from direct light and moisture. To prevent drug damage, you should not store Aerius® in the bathroom or the freezer. There may be different brands of Aerius® that may have different storage needs. It is important to always check the product package for instructions on storage, or ask your pharmacist. What is the dose of Aerius® (desloratadine) for an adult?
The recommended dose for adults and adolescents (12 years of age and over) is 5 mg once a day.
What is the dose of Aerius® (desloratadine) for a child?
The dose in children depends on their age.
For children from one to five years of age, the dose is 1.25 mg once a day, taken as 2.5 ml syrup or oral solution.
For children from six to 11 years of age, the dose is 2.5 mg once a day, taken either as 5 ml of the syrup or oral solution, or as one 2.5-mg orodispersible tablet.
How is Aerius® (desloratadine) available?
Aerius® is available in the following dosage forms and strengths:

What should I do in case of an emergency or overdose?
In case of an emergency or an overdose, call your local emergency services or go to your nearest emergency room.
What should I do if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose of Aerius®, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your regular dose as scheduled. Do not take a double dose.
