What is the dose of kalimate (Ca polystyrene sulfonate) for an adult?
The recommended dose is 15-30 g PO daily in 2-3 divided doses.
Suspend each dose in 30-50 mL water.
Rectal 30 g as a single dose suspended in 100 mL water or 2% methylcellulose soln. Leave in intestinal tract for 30-60 min after administration.
What is the dose of kalimate (Ca polystyrene sulfonate) for a child?
Acute hyperkalemia: The recommended dose is 1 g/kg body with daily in divided doses.
Maintenance therapy: The recommended dose is 0.5 g/kg body with daily in divided doses.
