Salt and Blood Pressure (Part 2)

To lower blood pressure, ensure a less consumption of salt. If you eat too much salt, you are at the greatest risk of high blood pressure.

Salt makes your body retain more water. The additional amount of stored water increases your blood pressure and strains your kidneys, arteries, heart and brain.

    Heart

The increased blood pressure that results from the high consumption of salt can bring harm and damage to the arteries that lead to the heart.

In the beginning, it may make the amount of blood that leads to the heart decrease slightly. The result is that you may feel a sharp pain in the chest when you physically do something.

Due to this condition, the cells in the heart cannot receive the sufficient amount of oxygen and nutrients, which means that the cells cannot work as well as they should. Notwithstanding, keeping blood pressure down can help ease some problems and result in the reduction of risks of damages.

If you still maintain the habit of taking in too much salt, the damage which results from the extra blood pressure will become serious over time. The arteries will burst or become entirely clogged. As a consequence, there is no blood to bring oxygen and necessary nutrients to some part of the heart. That part will eventually die, and the result is a heart attack.

In order to keep yourself from a heart attack, you should keep the arteries from becoming damaged. And lowering your blood pressure by not eating less salt is considered as one of the best methods to do it.

    Brain

The increased blood pressure which results from consuming too much salt has a harmful effect on not only the arteries leading to the heart but also ones reaching the brain.

In the beginning, the amount of blood that leads to the brain, like what happens to the heart, drops slightly. This can bring about dementia, also known as vascular dementia.

The insuffient amount of blood means insuffient amount of oxygen and vital nutrients that the brain receives. Some of the cells will, as a consequence, work less productively than they should. Nevertheless, keeping the blood pressure down can help ease some problems and result in the reduction of risks of damages.

If you still maintain the habit of taking in too much salt, the damage which results from the extra blood pressure will become serious over time. The arteries will burst or become entirely clogged. As a result, blood cannot deliver oxygen and necessary nutrients to some part of the brain. You will consequently have a stroke, where you experience the loss of ability to do the things which are controlled by some part of the brain.

Keep the arteries from becoming damaged to prevent a stroke. In order to do this, reducing the amount of salt is one of the best methods.
