Development & Behavior

How should my baby be developing?

Your baby’s emotions becomes clearer. In the coming months, your baby can learn to appreciate, imitate moods and might indicate the first sympathy. For example, if they hear someone crying, they may start crying. Although the baby just begins to learn about their feelings, they will start to learn everything from you. In the future, your child will be able to learn from what you treat people.

In the last week of 7th month, they will be able to:

  • Turn to stand up from sitting position;
  • Switch from belly crawl to sit;
  • Play clapping and waving to say goodbye;
  • Pick up small objects with the fingers (so keep dangerous objects out of reach of children);
  • Go exploring around their own house;
  • Constantly call “mother” or “father”.

How to support my baby?

If your baby sleeps in a separate room and they are afraid of the separation with you at night, you should spend more time on reading, cuddling and playing soothing music to your baby before putting them to bed. Maintaining regular routines before bed will help your baby feel safe to sleep more easily.

Once you are sure that you can start to work everyday in the bathroom or living room, all the work in your child’s bedroom should be completed when the baby is sleeping. The important thing is you have to teach them that the sleeping place is nice rather than where the baby is being chased until they need to go to bed.

Health & Safety

What should I discuss with my doctor?

Most doctors will not arrange health checks for your baby this month. On the positive side, it means that there is no serious problem with the baby; on the negative side, this means that you will not be able to recognize how the baby develops. Prepare questions for checks in the next month, but do not be afraid to call your doctor right away if you have any problems that make you interested or worried or that you can not wait until the next follow – up visit .

What should I know?

Here are some things you should know about:

Diarrhea

Your baby may suffer from diarrhea if you see your baby has more bowel movements than usual and the stools are loose stools. Child’s stool is yellow, green or dark and maye be smellier than usual.

The most common causes of diarrhea in infants are gastrointestinal infections, respiratory tract infections that are caused by viruses when they have a cold, the baby can not tolerate food or they have food allergies. Too much fruit juice or fruit in your child’s diet can cause diarrhea.

If your baby has diarrhea, apply some tips:

  • Call the doctor if your baby has some phenomena such as dehydrated, vomiting, refusing to eat or drink, blood in the stool, and if the baby’s abdomen distends (swollen and protruding) or if your baby has a fever that lasts more than 24 hours. In addition, your baby go less urinate, urine is dark, they have sunken eyes, dry mouth, crying without tears and cranky or lethargic. These are all symptoms of dehydration from moderate to severe.
  • Tell your child to drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration, but avoid fruit juices and sugary juices. Water, milk and powdered milk are better choices. You can also let your baby have rehydration drink.
  • Help your child feel as comfortable as possible. Always keep baby’s butt dry and use cream for babies.
  • Try to identify the cause: if your child has symptoms caused by other viruses? You’ve tried feeding any kind of food recently or not? You had your baby took any antibiotics recently or not?

Besides, you can prevent the disease by washing your and your baby’s hands thoroughly and frequently, you also should wash fruits and vegetables you feed your baby.

Dental problems

If baby teeth is sprouting wrongly, you do not need to take them to the dentist. Sprouting in the wrong location of the first tooth will not affect your baby’s smile later. In fact, milk teeth usually grow wrongly, particularly it is the lower front teeth and often forms a V – shape to grow. The upper front teeth also seems huge compared with to the units below. And in some baby, front lower teeth will grow before those bellow units, but this is nothing to worry about.

When babys is two and a half years old, they will have sufficient twenty teeth. And although teeth are still uneven about proportion and structure, do not worry. Baby’s teeth will not cause your child a growing undulating tooth when they grow up.

If the tooth becomes gray, the cause may be to the plaque which is iron. Some children drink liquid vitamin and mineral supplement that contains iron, which canincrease the risk of tooth stain. This is not harmful to teeth and it will disappear when your child stops taking the drug and starts taking chewable vitamin. Meanwhile, brush your baby’s teeth with gauze or clean them immediately after they take the vitamin to help reduce yellowing teeth.

Even if your child does not use supplement foods in liquid form, in case the baby usually drinks a bottle or juice before going to bed, they could also have a decay. Tooth decay can also be the result of injury or a congenital defects in tooth enamel. Please discuss this with your doctor or dentist to understand the exact situation of your baby’s teeth.

My Concerns

What I am concerned about?

Here are some things you should know about:

Biting the nipple

Baby can not actively bite while being breastfed (because your baby keeps tongue between their teeth and breast). Your child’s pleasures can derive from your sream when they accidentally bite your nipples. If baby giggles, you can not help laughing and that’s why your baby continues to bite and wait to see the reaction from you.

So instead of encouraging them to do that by laughter, let them know that biting is not acceptable by ordering very firmly, bluntly that “No” and then quickly took the nipple out the baby’s mouth and explain that “Biting like that will make me hurt!”. If they try to stick to your nipples, use a finger to remove it. After some time, they’ll learn that and give up.

You need to stop their habit of sucking or biting nipples to avoid more serious problems later. Baby should soon know that teeth are not used for the bite. Also you can have appropriate things to control this habit (teething rings, bread or a banana). Besides, you let them know that there are things that they can not bite (breast mother, brother’s finger, father’s shoulder).

Their bad actions may:

  • Interfere with the healthy nutrition of the baby;
  • Cause affect to her ability to have fun;
  • Affect the sociability of your child;
  • Cause the negative effect on the development of personality of children;
  • Contribute to form tooth decay in child.
