Common Hair Removal Methods


We always have unwanted hair in different body parts such as upper lip, chin, back, and legs. It is because of many reasons, including genetics, certain medication, high levels of certain hormones, and polycystic ovarian syndrome. There are various ways to remove hair and with most of them, the hair will grow back.


Shaving is best for leg, arm, and facial hair. However, it can cause ingrown hairs, especially in the pubic region. People usually said that shaving causes hair to grow back coarser, but that’s not true. An unshaved hair has a tip that is tapered and soft. When you shave it, you shave off the soft tip, so it feel coarser


This method can be hurtful but it is suitable for the area that has just a few hairs. You can use this method reshaping your eyebrows or pulling out a few stray hairs on you face. However, with the large areas, plucking can cause ingrown hairs or scarring.

Depilatory Creams

You can use depilatory creams – hair removal creams, without a prescription. There are many types of depilatory creams, so read the label before using it, as there are different area such as hair on the pubic and face.

Hot waxing

Hot waxing can be done at home or in the spa or salon. Many women use hot waxing to remove the pubic hair or hair on the upper lip. Hot waxing can be messy and painful. Moreover, it can leave some hairs behind as they can break off. You may get a burn if the wax is too hot. Additionally, infection can be a possibility. A certain type of prescription acne creams (such as Retin-A) or isotretinoin should not be used with hot waxing. If you d, the wax will pull your skin off.

Laser hair removal

This is one of the longest-lasting methods, but it generally requires for or more treatment 4-6 weeks apart. You can only use this method with the dark hair.

The laser beam or a light pulse works to destroy the hair bulb. This treatment is expensive and painful, but can be used in many parts of the body that have unwanted hair. Remember that you should go to see a doctor or technician that is highly trained and knowledgeable.
