Yoga is a whole body work out. It has the ability to heal the human body from inside to outside. However, yoga, as well as other physical activities, can cause sore muscle. They are muscular aches and pains after a pretty intense session, especially if you are a beginner or resume yoga after long breaks. One of the major problems with muscle soreness is the difficulty to keep practicing. Therefore, the ways to relax muscles after yoga are very important. Here are tips to minimize the discomfort that you can suggest your wife.
In most cases, muscle pains can fade away by their own without any medical treatment. There are some lifestyle changes and home remedies you can apply to lessen the pain of your wife:
Help her breathe right
Develop deep breaths can help relax your wife’s muscles. Ask her to follow the instructions:
With one hand on the belly, take a slow, long breath through the nose, bringing air into the bottom of your lungs. You should feel your abdomen rise. Hold for 3 seconds, and then make a long, steady exhale. Focus on the exhale for 10-20 breaths and feel the tension and tightness dissipate from your muscles.
Aid in stretching
Stretching not only makes she more relaxed, but it also helps keep her muscles flexible so she can deal with the discomfort of the muscle pain.
The tip is: if you have pain in a particular muscle, you should stretch the opposing muscle. Try holding your stretch for only 3-5 seconds, then release. Repeat this five to ten times. This usually works for back pain or tension.
Take a deep sleep
Advise her to take a deep sleep. While sleeping, her muscles will have a chance to rest and recover themselves. Seven hours of sleep per night is ideal. As the muscles heal, they grow back stronger and better able to work at a higher level of intensity.
Give her a massage
Massage is an incredible ancient technique used to relax muscles and soothe the pain. Massage relieves tension built up in muscles and helps to ease the ache and make it go away quicker. You can massage for her gently in about 15 minutes. Besides, you can get her a weekly massage by the therapist to speed up the healing.
Prepare a hot bath
Saunas, hot baths, hot showers can play a very important role in taking away the soreness. Heat reduces muscle stiffness while relaxing her muscles. Heat increases blood flow to affected area and takes away accumulated toxins, which hasten the healing process and fasten the recovery.
Take her to get acupuncture
Acupuncture is a technique in which practitioners stimulate specific points on the body—most often by inserting thin needles through the skin. It helps the muscles to self-healing quickly and painlessly. Make sure that the acupuncturist you choose for your wife is trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine, to ensure that she’s getting the best result.
Cook your family dinner
Recommend your wife choosing a healthy, balanced diet accompany with appropriate supplements such as fish oil, vitamin C, magnesium. They can enhance the effect of yoga practice, decrease inflammation, maximize post-workout muscle repair and rebuilding and prevent muscle soreness.
Make sure she drinks enough water
Keep her staying hydrated to prevent muscle soreness. Water helps with nerve conduction and muscle contraction, helping your muscles get the electrolytes they need to function properly. Remind her to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. If your wife does not drink enough water, her body will be unable to function at its highest level and this may cause a lot of serious problems.
If all else fail, try medications
Never hesitate to ask her to take over-the-counter pain medication such as acetaminophens or a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDs) like aspirin, ibuprofen or naproxen if she is not feeling better with natural home remedies that listed above. Meditation can help release the tension from her muscles faster.
If her condition doesn’t respond to any remedies mentioned above, consult your doctor to find out if she has any underlying medical conditions.
Although yoga is proven to be a healthy and beneficial lifestyle, it does not mean people should overdo it. Advice your wife to start gradually and follow these tips above to relax her muscle after yoga. This will keep her stay healthy, calm and happy for all day.
