5 Natural Remedies to Help Fight Nausea with Ovarian Cancer

Living with ovarian cancer means you may experience nausea. It can be caused by either the cancer itself or the side effects aroused from the treatment for the cancer. However, the good news is that nausea can be treated without using medications. Here are 5 natural remedies that can help fight nausea with ovarian cancer.

Adjusting your eating habit

People often have the habit of eating three meals per day. However, studies have shown that you should split the meal into 5 or 6 small meals, so your stomach can never be empty and the amount of food consumed can be balanced. Patients with ovarian cancer do not skip any meal. During the meal, you should also sip a little water to ease digestion; using a straw is recommended. The way you eat should be directed by your doctor to limit appetite loss and maintain good health.

Besides, you should erase the smell of some particular foods and dishes. There are foods that can stimulate nausea while others do not. Foods that less likely to trigger nausea including cold foods, salty foods such as crisps, crackers, dry food such as toast, crackers, or bland foods such as chicken. Fried foods, spicy foods, and foods with a strong smell should be avoided because they can cause nausea.

Milk

It is extremely hard for you trying to drink milk after vomiting, but milk, when combined it with other foods, can exert good effects. Heat up a cup of milk, but stop at the warm point. Do not boil it. Crumble a piece of fried bread and pour into milk. In order to make the dish tastier, you can add sugar or honey.  In fact, drinking milk before eating can make your stomach upset, but a mixture of bread and milk has an amazing effect. You can drink it anytime to alleviate your hunger and stop vomiting.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a treatment of traditional medicine originated from China with great effectiveness proved over time but it has not been accepted as a standard treatment method. In 1998, a National Institute of Health indicated that acupuncture may help to treat nausea and vomiting. Lots of healthcare providers are encouraged to enhance knowledge of acupuncture to support people who need it.

Clove

Thanks to aromatic and soothing properties, clove is a great spice to help you combat nausea caused by your ovarian cancers. It is also helpful when used to treat pregnancy-related nausea and morning sickness. There are many ways of using clove you can try.  You may prepare a glass of boiling water, add one teaspoon of clove power and stir. Cover in about 5 minutes, and then remove residue but keep the liquid. You can drink it whenever you need. You can give the drink more flavor by adding 1 teaspoon of honey.

Take a clean handkerchief, put a few drops of clove oil on, then breathe it until your nausea is lessened.

The simplest way to treat nausea by clove is to chew one to two cloves to get immediate effect.

Yoga

Research has pointed out that yoga can help you release endorphins and relax muscles. Therefore, it can help you reduce nausea and discomfort. A few simple movements in combination with deep breathing might reduce nausea by bringing more oxygen to the brain and redirect your focus from nausea to conscious act of breathing.
