    Foods to Improve Asthma

Patients with asthma usually wonder if there are particular food and diet of which they can take advantage to have the condition controlled. In fact, there is no conclusive evidence that a special asthma diet can lessen the airway inflammation as well as the frequency of asthma attacks.

Be that as it may, a healthy diet with fresh, healthy nutritious foods plays an essential role in your overall health as well as your asthma treatment plan. For instance, an unhealthy diet is very likely to cause obesity, which is widely believed to have something to do with severe asthma; controlling a healthy weight with a good diet is therefore very important.

Or, a lot of doctors suspect that some certain foods can affect your asthma. For instance, some are believed to have a positive effect on your asthma thanks to their ability to support lung function. But there are some you should stay away if are allergic to them because allergy can, in some cases, trigger asthma symptoms.

    Asthma

Inflammation in the airway of the lungs called bronchial tubes is the consequence of asthma. During the time you have an asthma attack, the bronchial tubes swell, with the muscles surrounding them tightening as well. Air, for this reason, has difficulty entering the lungs. You may therefore experience asthma symptoms including coughing, shortness of breath, wheezing, chest tightness.

    Asthma and Obesity

As mentioned above, one of the major risk factors for developing asthma is obesity. Asthma in people with obesity can be way more serious and more difficult to treat. By consuming a balanced diet and having a healthy weight, you can have your condition under control more easily.

    Asthma and Nutrition

Although there is no certain diet suggested for asthma, there exist foods and nutrients which can support lung function. There is evidence that the rates of asthma are lower in people who consume diets that are rich in vitamin E and C, omega-3 fatty acids, flavonoids, selenium, magnesium. A lot of these substances are antioxidants that can shield cells from damage.

One study has recently revealed that teens who consume poor nutrition have more chances of facing asthma symptoms. Furthermore, the risk of having poor lung function is higher among people who do not absorb enough fruits and foods that contain sufficient amount of vitamins C and E, and omega-3 fatty. Another study unveils that children whose diets filled with nuts and fruits, such as tomatoes, apples, have less chance of facing asthma symptoms.
