How to Have an Enjoyable Trip With Your Allergy


Managing allergy when traveling is not easy. You may find it difficult in getting allergy relief on the road.  Some of our following tips will help you travel safely and enjoyably.

Before you go

While normal people take a considerate amount of time in planning their traveling routine, people with allergic problems should invest as twice as that. It is advisable to prepare some of these followings:

Make sure your medications within your arm reach, particularly in your purse, your pocket, in the car, on the handle of the train of flight seat, etc. Prepare extra doses in case you need more.

Make it clear to the security that you have these allergic medications containing in separated bags with labels on them. If necessary, declare them separately to the guards to avoid any confusion.

Airlines usually clean their plane at the end of the day. Therefore, it is best to choose the flight early in the morning to avoid being exposed to food residue.

Consider packing your own food while traveling. Contact the airline in advance to check if your food is allowed on board. Additionally, check the airline’s policy for allergy related information.

On the go

If you travel in a car, it will be better to travel early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid traffic. By avoiding traffic, you lower your possibility of allergen exposure caused by air pollution due to heavy traffic. Plus, you can get to where you want to go faster. Additionally, keep your windows up and use air-conditioner instead.

If you travel by plane or train, be aware of the smoking area. Ask to have yourself seated as far as possible to it. Also, bring your nasal spray in case anything happens.


There are hostels and hotels that have allergy-friendly rooms available. Be sure to contact the place you are going to stay in advance and book the room you desire. If there isn’t, then be clear to them with your allergy and ask for a smoke-free room. Try to stay away from the smoking area. Furthermore, there are hotels that permit pets. What you should do is to make sure you are not going to stay in a pet-friendly place.

Overall, you do have to try and make sure you have all the necessary information and taken all the necessary steps. Whether you travel for entertainment or for work, it is essential that you have prepared everything. Once you have everything ready, you just need to lie back and enjoy the trip.
