Monday blues refer to the negative feelings one experiences at the beginning of their workweek, especially when they are not happy with their job. If you are depressed, hopeless, and extremely tired on Monday, you may suffer Monday blues. Many people assume that Monday blues are a common thing all people have. In fact, there are more to it than meets the eyes. Monday blues can be the sign of an underlying problem at work.

The reasons behind Monday blues

If you are happy with your job, Monday is the time to come and continue to work on what you love. But if you are not satisfied with your job, Monday marks a week of endless tasks and challenges. Monday blues affect not only your performance but also the people you work with. Experts believe that Monday blues drastically affect the productivity and well-being of the whole team.

Tips to beat the Monday blues

Ask yourself what’s wrong

First, you need to figure out where your problem comes from. If you suffer Monday blues all the time, there must be something seriously wrong with your job. You should try to fix it or find another line of job.

Have some reparation

The depression you feel on Monday may possibly result from the piled up tasks from the last Friday. Try your best to finish all of your tasks before you leave work on Friday, or at least, tackle the scary tasks first and save the easy ones for Monday. That way, you are less likely to be overloaded on Monday.

Think about what you love

There’s should always be something you look forward to during the week. Make a list of the things you are most excited about so you have the motivation to dive through you week.

Sleep well and wake up early

Make sure you sleep early on Sunday night to charge up the energy you need to kick start the next week. If you only had a few hours of sleep, chances are you will wake up depressed and exhausted. Sleep well and wake up early, then exercise and eat a healthy breakfast.

Dress in your favorite clothing

The way you dress can have a huge impact on your mood. If you dress positive, you may even be able to cheer up your co-workers as well. Save your favorite clothes for Monday to build your confidence. You may even get a few compliments that help perk up your day.
