What is Tozaar® (iosartan potassium) used for?

Tozaar® is commonly used for the treatment, control, prevention, and improvement of the following conditions, such as:

• High blood pressure
• Kidney disease in high blood pressure patients
• Kidney disease in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients
• Chronic heart failure
• Stroke in heart disorder patients
• Stroke in high blood pressure patients

How should I take Tozaar® (iosartan potassium)?

Tozaar® can be taken with food or without food. It takes about a month before your blood pressure is under control. Do not discontinue without consulting your doctor.

How do I store Tozaar® (iosartan potassium)?

Tozaar® is best stored at room temperature away from direct light and moisture. To prevent drug damage, you should not store Tozaar® in the bathroom or the freezer. There may be different brands of Tozaar® that may have different storage needs. It is important to always check the product package for instructions on storage, or ask your pharmacist. • Avoid sudden position changes.
• Cessation should be done gradually over 7-14 days along with patient monitoring.
• Do not drive or operate heavy machinery.
• Do not stop taking atenolol abruptly.
• Do not take double dose to compensate for a forgotten dose.
• You should not use Tozaar® if you are allergic to it.

Is it safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

There are no adequate studies in women for determining risk when using Tozaar® during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. What is the dose of Tozaar® (iosartan potassium) for an adult?

Diabetic nephropathy:

The initial dose is 50 mg orally once a day.

The maintenance dose is 25 to 100 mg orally in 1 to 2 divided doses.

Hypertension:

The initial dose is 50 mg orally once a day.

The maintenance dose is 25 to 100 mg orally in 1 to 2 divided doses.

What is the dose of Tozaar® (iosartan potassium) for a child?

If you miss a dose of Tozaar®, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your regular dose as scheduled. Do not take a double dose.
