Uses

What is Rantudil® (acemetacin) used for?

Rantudil® is commonly used for treating:

Acemetacin works by blocking the effect of chemicals called cyclo-oxygenase (COX) enzymes. These enzymes help to make other chemicals in the body, called prostaglandins. Some prostaglandins are produced at sites of injury or damage, and cause pain and inflammation. By blocking the effect of COX enzymes, fewer prostaglandins are produced, which means pain and inflammation are eased.

How should I take Rantudil® (acemetacin)?

Take acemetacin exactly as your doctor tells you to. The usual dose for adults is one 60 mg capsule taken twice daily, preferably morning and evening. If it is necessary, your doctor may increase your dose to one capsule three times daily.

Take your doses with a snack, or just after eating a meal. This will help protect your stomach from side-effects such as indigestion.

Swallow the capsules whole with a drink of water. Do not chew or open the capsules.
