What is Mizollen® (mizolastine) used for?

Mizollen® is an antihistamine. It is commonly used for relieve symptoms of hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis), nasal allergies, and other allergic reactions causing irritation of the eyes and nose (perennial allergic rhinoconjunctivitis).

How should I take Mizollen® (mizolastine)?

Take Mizollen® by mouth usually once a day with plenty of water. Use it for the duration of the prescription in order to get the most benefit from it.

Remember to use it at the same time each day – unless specifically told not to by your doctor.

It may take up to an hour before the full benefit of this drug takes effect.

Administer it with a sufficient quantity of water. Patients may take it alongside or after food, whichever is most convenient.

How do I store Mizollen® (mizolastine)?

Mizollen® is best stored at room temperature away from direct light and moisture. To prevent drug damage, you should not store Mizollen® in the bathroom or the freezer. There may be different brands of Mizollen® that may have different storage needs. It is important to always check the product package for instructions on storage, or ask your pharmacist. For safety, you should keep all medicines away from children and pets.

What should I know before using Mizollen® (mizolastine)?

Mizolastine may cause blood sugar or salt level changes in certain patients, as well as other potential reactions. Because of this, blood tests may be ordered by your physician while taking the medicine, so as to monitor your symptoms.

Even though it is a non-drowsy antihistamine, this does not entirely rule out the possibility of drowsiness, and a small number of patients may still be affected.

What should I do if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose of Mizollen®, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your regular dose as scheduled. Do not take a double dose.
