What is Maninil® 5 (glibenclamide) used for?

Maninil® 5 is commonly used for non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults), when you cannot achieve metabolic control with diet, physical activity and reduction of body teglo.

How should I take Maninil® 5 (glibenclamide)?

Taking Maninil® 5 with sufficient liquid, once in the morning before breakfast.

If the dose is 3 tablets, they can take 2 tablets in the morning one night.

It is important to take the tablets at the same time each day. If a dose is missed, it should be administered later than 1-2 hours after the scheduled time – better to miss doses.

The next regular intake is at the appointed time. Missed doses should never be compensated by taking more tablets or apply later drug. When taking the medicine must not skip meals.

How do I store Maninil® 5 (glibenclamide)?

Maninil® 5 is best stored at room temperature away from direct light and moisture. To prevent drug damage, you should not store Maninil® 5 in the bathroom or the freezer. What should I know before using Maninil® 5 (glibenclamide)?

Before using this drug, tell your doctor if:

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding. This is because, while you are expecting or feeding a baby, you should only take medicines on the recommendation of a doctor.
  • You are taking any other medicines. This includes any medicines you are taking which are available to buy without a prescription, such as herbal and complementary medicines.
  • You have allergy with any of active or inactive ingredients of Maninil® 5 or other medications.
  • You have any other illnesses, disorders, or medical conditions.

Maninil® 5 lowers blood sugar. Treatment with this medication requires regular medical supervision.

Overdose diet errors (skipping a meal or insufficient intake of food), excessive alcohol consumption, unusual physical exertion may occur severely low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Signs of low blood sugar are sudden sweating, palpitations, trembling, hunger, nervousness, tingling around the mouth, pallor, headache, dizziness, sleep disturbances, anxiety, depressed mood, unstable movements, impaired speech and vision, paralysis symptoms. Strong decrease of blood glucose can lead to helplessness, loss of consciousness and seizures.

Diabetic patient may adjust slightly decrease blood sugar by eating sugar or foods rich in sugar. Here’s why you should always carry an 20 g of glucose.

If there is a severe decrease in blood sugar with loss of consciousness, an urgent need to call a doctor.

Caution is required in elderly patients, patients with impaired hepatic and / or renal function, decreased function of the thyroid gland, pituitary or adrenal gland, patients who forget or in patients who do not comply with the recommendations for diet and use of medicines, since they are at high risk for a decrease in blood glucose levels.

Side effects

In isolated cases, bleeding disorders have been observed.

What is the dose of Maninil® 5 (glibenclamide) for an adult?
