What is Maalox® (Aluminum Hydroxide/Magnesium Hydroxide) used for?
Maalox® is commonly used for treating acid indigestion, heartburn, and sour stomach. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
How should I take Maalox® (Aluminum Hydroxide/Magnesium Hydroxide)?
It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, usually after meals and at bedtime as needed.
- If you are taking the chewable tablets, chew thoroughly before swallowing, then drink a full glass of water.
- If you are using the liquid form of this medication, shake the bottle well before pouring each dose.
How do I store Maalox® (Aluminum Hydroxide/Magnesium Hydroxide)?
Maalox® is best stored at room temperature away from direct light and moisture. To prevent drug damage, you should not store Maalox® in the bathroom or the freezer. There may be different brands of Maalox® that may have different storage needs. It is important to always check the product package for instructions on storage, or ask your pharmacist. Chewtab: 2-4 tab
Suspension: 10-20 mL orally between meals or every night at bedtime.

What should I do in case of an emergency or overdose?
In case of an emergency or an overdose, call your local emergency services (115) or go to your nearest emergency room.
What should I do if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose of medication, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your regular dose as scheduled. Do not take a double dose.
