What is Lipobay® (cerivastatin) used for?
Lipobay® works by blocking the enzymes in the liver responsible for the production of cholesterol inside the body. It is commonly used for lower the amount of cholesterol in an individual and prevent cardiovascular disease.
Also, Lipobay® prevents the risk of stroke and heart attack.
How should I take Lipobay® (cerivastatin)?
Lipobay® comes in a tablet form and is taken orally. It should be taken daily with or without food. The ideal time for the medication is before bedtime.
How do I store Lipobay® (cerivastatin)?
Lipobay® is best stored at room temperature away from direct light and moisture. To prevent drug damage, you should not store Lipobay® in the bathroom or the freezer. There may be different brands of Lipobay® that may have different storage needs. It is important to always check the product package for instructions on storage, or ask your pharmacist. For safety, you should keep all medicines away from children and pets.
You should not flush Lipobay® down the toilet or pour them into a drain unless instructed to do so. It is important to properly discard this product when it is expired or no longer needed. Consult your pharmacist for more details about how to safely discard your product.

What should I know before using Lipobay® (cerivastatin)?
If you are taking this medication, you must avoid driving or operating any machine because this medication affects your alertness and reflexes.
Lipobay® must not be used by pregnant women or nursing mothers without consulting a doctor first. Women planning to become pregnant must also seek the advice of a doctor and discuss the risks involved.
Muscle damage may occur when Lipobay® is used with other medications like cyclosporine, erythromycin, nicotinic acid, gemfibrozil and itraconazole.
It is good to exercise daily while undergoing treatment so that it supplements the medication and speeds up the treatment. However, you must consult your doctor for the proper exercise program that is safe for your condition and your age. You must also maintain a low fat diet and eat lots of vegetables and fruits. Ask for a recommended diet from your doctor.
You must also avoid alcohol and smoking which can hamper the effectiveness of the medicine.

What is the dose of Lipobay® (cerivastatin) for an adult?
The recommended dose is 0.2 – 0.8 mg orally, 24 hourly, in the evening, initially.
Or 100ug is recommended, orally, at intervals of at least 4 weeks up to a max of 300ug once daily.
What is the dose of Lipobay® (cerivastatin) for a child?
The dosage has not been established in pediatric patients. It may be unsafe for your child. It is always important to fully understand the safety of the drug before using. Please consult with your doctor or pharmacist for more information.
How is Lipobay® (cerivastatin) available?

What should I do in case of an emergency or overdose?
In case of an emergency or an overdose, call your local emergency services or go to your nearest emergency room.
The signs and symptoms that are produced after the acute overdosage are acute rhabdomyolyses or acute renal failure.
What should I do if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose of Lipobay®, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your regular dose as scheduled. Do not take a double dose.
