What is the dose of dopamine hydrochloride for an adult?

  • To increase urine output and kidney blood flow: take a low dose of 1 to 5 mcg/kg/minute IV.
  • To increase kidney blood flow, cardiac output and contractility, and heart rate: take an intermediate dose of 5 to 15 mcg/kg/minute IV.
  • IV to increase blood pressure and stimulate vasoconstriction: take a high dose of 20 to 50 mcg/kg/minute and can increase by 1 to 4 mcg/kg/minute at 10 to 30 minutes intervals until desired response is achieved.
