What is Aminosteril® (amino acids) used for?
Aminosteril® is commonly used for prophylaxis and treatment of protein deficiency in pediatrics when oral food intake is contraindicated.
How should I take Aminosteril® (amino acids)?
Aminosteril® is given as an injection through your vein by your doctor.
How do I store Aminosteril® (amino acids)?
Aminosteril® is best stored at room temperature away from direct light and moisture. To prevent drug damage, you should not store Aminosteril® in the bathroom or the freezer. - Too rapid infusion may result in renal losses causing amino acid imbalance.
- Regularly monitor urea-N, acid-base balance, serum ionogram, liver enzymes, lipid level, water balance, if necessary serum amino acids.
- Disturbances in amino acid metabolism, acidosis, hyperhydration, hypokalemia.
- Attention in case of hyponatremia.
- Hepatic or renal insufficiency.

What is the dose of Aminosteril® (amino acids) for an adult?

What is the dose of Aminosteril® (amino acids) for a child?
IV infusion max daily dose:
- 11-14 year olds: 10 g/kg body weight
- 6-10 year olds: 1 g/kg body weight
- 2-5 year olds: 1.5 g/kg body weight
- 1 year olds: 1.5-2.5 g/kg body weight
Max rate: up to 0.1 g/kg body weight/hour or 1.67 ml/kg body weight/hr.
How is Aminosteril® (amino acids) available?
Aminosteril® is available in the following dosage forms and strengths:
- Aminosteril® Infant 6% soln for infusion 100ml
What should I do in case of an emergency or overdose?
In case of an emergency or an overdose, call your local emergency services or go to your nearest emergency room.
What should I do if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose of Aminosteril®, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your regular dose as scheduled. Do not take a double dose.
